TOO MUCH JUNKIE BUSINESS IN PORTOBELLO

The cafe that was made famous by HAWKWIND on their 'Hall of the mountain grill' LP which was named after the old 'Mountain grill' cafe on the Portobello road has now gone but in its place is a cafe with the most stupid name. The band named the LP after the cafe because it was their usual haunt before and after the free gigs they used to play in the space next to the railway tracks on what is now Portobello green, famously stealing the electricity for their instruments from the live track of the tube trains (wow, the old days man).

Anyway, before i get bogged down in the 'old days' i will get to the point, the old 'Mountain grill' cafe has now gone and in its place is a new premises that calls itself 'RE:HAB'.

What a stupid name, this area has had enough trouble with drugs as it is without some fool thinking its cool to come up with a name like that, ironically on the same side of the road but a few blocks further up is the Portobello drug project, so we have a place helping recovering addicts get better and further down a cafe glorifying them for custom.

I think it is way past time that 'heroin chic' was left to overdose on its own s**t in a squalid corner somewhere where it belongs.
