THERE'S AT RAT IN ME KITCHEN WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?

Further on from the 'vermin invasion' post below, i wish to add the notice i received from my council along with other residents on my street.
I came home on Friday afternoon from a day of toil only to find a letter from the local council informing me that my house had a rodent problem and that the bin men would not be collecting my rubbish until the rodent problem has been dealt with. Opening the letter i was dumbfounded to learn that i and the other residents of my house were being blamed by the councils environmental health division for creating the conditions that were perfect for the rodents to move into my house, this letter, which blamed among other things the mess that was left in my houses basement was nothing less than an insult.
Up until the scaffold'ers and builders began work on decorating the house the front basement of the house was always kept clean by all of us who shared the building, so to receive a thinly veiled accusation that the residents of my house were to blame quite miffed me, all of us in the place have always done our best to make the front look decent, and to get a council letter blaming us was a bit galling.
The rodent problem we have only started when the housing trust sent round the labourers to erect scaffolding for the purpose of painting the front of the houses in my street, within two weeks of the scaffolding going up in mid December last the mess began to appear in the basement of our house, by new year there was fast food packaging, old fizzy drink cans and food wrappers from food stalls and shops from all over the Portobello/Ladbroke grove area, and along with all the builders rubbish there began to be created the perfect home for migrating mice who were on the hunt for pastures new.
If anyone else receives notices from the council informing them that they have a rodent problem then i advise you to look out and see if there is any change in the area regarding close building works and to question any notices received from the council claiming you or you other tenants are the cause.
As i said below, there has been a rodent explosion in the area within the past six or so months and it isn't the fault of many of the local residents who take a lot of care when it comes to keeping their homes clean, accusation like this are not only unfair but are also one of the worst examples of a council trying to pass the buck -and the cause of the infestation.
