Plans are under way in Liverpool to create the cities very own 'portobello road'. According to the Liverpool daily post, the Liverpool chamber of commerce came up with the idea of turning the Bold street area into a new Portobello, also hosting Gay parades and concerts as a way to protect small business' in the area from the onslaught of the sprawling Paradise street development that is threatening to engulf all in its wake.
Just why they think creating a new Portobello road in the city is going to help them i don't know, maybe placing illegal charges on shop owners and stall holders, encouraging chain stores and mega malls, forcing long established business' out of the area with unaffordable ground rents, closing the public toilets (etc etc) is what they are planning.
