Ho ho ho, what a year its been and its only five days old.
On new years day at about 3.30am i turned on the radio and tuned into the news to see (hear?) what was going on in the world, oh my gosh.
The first thing i heard was the latest body count in some war torn country or other which was followed by the news that riot police had been deployed in Notting hill gate to protect the Israeli embassy from protesters angry at Israels over the top cluster bomb military reaction to the rockets Hamas had been firing at Israeli settlements.
As bad as the news from the 'holy land' and other places was, it was the news nearer to home that really loosened my bowels, in two separate items the news told us that first, the government has decided that every car driver/owner will have to attend compulsory health tests every ten years and that all those attending will have to pay a fee of £80 for the privilege, the second item was about devices that will be put into cars so that the engines speed and movements can be remotely controlled by a faceless person via satellite, these devices will be fitted to cars on a voluntary basis we are told, oh yeah, of course they will be, just like I.D cards i bet. Oh, silly me, I.D cards are now going to be compulsory, the same wont happen to these devises will they? of course not, no no no.
ABOVE RIGHT, OUR DEAR LEADER IN A YOUTHFUL 'ONE OF US' POSE.
After hearing news like that i felt more like running through the streets shouting warnings for everyone to get the first plane to Zimbabwe to apply for political asylum than i did wishing everyone happy new year. For some reason the well wishing desire had died in me.
I have been trying to avoid politics here for obvious reasons (other than it's boring) but it seems like our government has either been putting out its 'born to lose' legislation because it knows it has messed up and wants to lose the next election, or, those 'theorists' who speak of an impending fascistic new world order are right.
