TESCO TERRA IN THE AREA.

I spoke to an aunt on the phone t'other day who moved to Folkstone recently, she tells me that there is much wailing and gnashing of gold teeth in town over the Tesco chain store and their behaviour there, it turns out according to protesters that Tesco have been buying up any available high street shops they can find and are deliberately leaving them empty and unused, turning down any offers to let them out or renovate them for use. This has got the townsfolk worried and genuinely scared that there are plans to run down their high streets and funnel everyone into out of town superstores, and they are seriously worrying about the detrimental effect this will have on the community and the wider long term effects to the town, they are now actively protesting against Tesco's machinations and are trying to get the attention of the national media and public.
Since Tesco's plans have become public evidence has come forward that suggests this buy-out policy is not confined to Folkstone alone, and there are fears that the 'food' store is doing this on a national level which could have a terrible effect on all U.K high streets, including ours.
