For the past two nights just gone I'd been woken up on two or three occasions a night by what I could, in my half sleeping state only imagine as what the preceding miasma surrounding an H.P. Lovecraft style ageless dark God (recently woken from his ancient, timeless slumber of course) would smell like. The smell got so bad and had become so thick in my bedroom that I considered using a knife to cut through it, there was no place to hide from it either, it filled my flat.
As with the recent sewage flooding in Formosa street off Warwick avenue, and the now annual stench that we live with in summer, it is surely only reasonable that I should look towards the people in charge of those stretches of sewer to be at fault, they need to get it seen to after what has become a fair few years now without it having a good cleaning out, polluting the area with fresh sewage smells.
Just cycling along Shirland road can bring tears to the eyes, the smell of the drains overpowers almost all passers by.
