HARROW ROADS NEW MONSTER

...AND AN OLD ONE IN A POOL.
I was looking on the Genesis website trying to get some info on the revolting looking new 'carbuncle' they have built on Harrow road and was stunned at the gumpf they have up on their site, they are proudly and boldly telling us how great it is that to get their flats you can start by buying 25% of the property and slowly build up the percentage of ownership. Whoop-de-doo, a potential bottomless hole of debt in front of your life.
The new flats are almost finished and actually the building is not quite as monsterous when you first see its glass side while travelling Eastwards or going over the bridge out of Westminster, its going Westwards that you get to appreciate the full horror of the buildings front, it doesn't fit in with it's hundred year old surroundings and looks out of place, plus it has those awful small windows and tiny, pointless balconies and is painted white, anything white on Harrow road becomes Gray within months from the volume of traffic fumes.
That got me wondering, how many of the few 'social homes' will have nice views and how many will just be facing another 'little windowed' block twenty feet away across the canal?
Speaking of that block opposite, it used to be the site of a swimming pool, one that featured in Tim Roth's first role in the kitchen sink drama 'Made in Britain' where he played a mad Skinhead. Anyway, I was in the pool one day swimming about when I heard loads of shouting and hollering, when I turned to look I saw a human turd fly past my face, someone had laid a log in the pool and two young male attendants were having a right hoot, using a net on a pole to fling the turd at swimmers. "Hilarious" I thought and got straight out of the pool in double time, others stayed in the water and joined in the game. I never went back.
It was a nice old pool as well, shame, it had changing cubicles round the pool instead of those big cold changing rooms, nice ceramic tiles and dark wood furnishings, it was a bit tatty yet still looked nice, it was just a shame about the turd throwing staff.
