The governments new health data base will be going online soon. Everyone in the country was supposed to recieve forms asking them if they wish to opt OUT, rather than be automatically opted in as we are being. If you didnt opt out it will been assumed that you willingly concent to your medical, health and other detailed records being available to anyone who cares to read them.
The defendants of the data base say it will speed up patient treatment, yet the problems it has had sinse its inception has meant it is a long time past its supposed launch already. It has also been called 'unworkable' by different computing experts and has over run its costs by £millions already.
Even Drs are also opposing the sceme and are advising their patients to sign opt-out forms.
The biggest worry for the individual is the easily obtained records of peoples lives, included will be info not available elsewhere, and in the hands of dodgy insurance companies and such, it is a weapon against you. Then of course there is the massive scope for fraudsters that will be created, for them it will be a 'happy time' as they could get everything needed to obtain goods and certain (travel, tax, insurance, false identity etc.) documents with the very easily stolen information, and of course worries about access to bank accounts exist.
The government claims people will be safe because only health staff will be able to access it, but the term 'medical staff' refers to anyone from G.P receptionists upwards, there will be over a quarter of a million people who will be allowed to access it, including many people who will never have anything to do with you.
The residents of Westminster council have till the end of this month to sign the forms or go on the data base without recourse, and I assume RBKC residents have the same time limit placed on them.
If the G.P's has run out of forms one can be obtained by looking for the 'summery care records' form online, they are easy to find using 'summery care opt out' as search words. All you have to do is fill in the form and have take it to your G.P surgery who will stamp it and send it on, thats all.
If you value your privacy and have things you wouldn't like others to know (especially for men, who are known to enter the emergency wards with various...insertions, that need urgent surgical removals.)
DR's are saying sign the opt out and I am in agreement with them on this.
