TRELLICK ESTATE SAVED (again)

THIS TIME IT WAS THE SURROUNDING HOUSES
The residents of homes that surround Trellick tower, were last night 'whooping' it up after RBKC rejected the proposals to demolish their houses.
The gray bricked square houses, while not being the prettiest to look at are peoples homes non the less, and as they pose no danger to the residents, are in a decent state of repair and the people wish to carry on living there (they had also handed in a petition in favour of the present homes). Then it really removes any reason for knocking them down.
Having to find a hundred or more homes for these people, as well as the cost of storage for their furniture (something always seems to go wrong with that one, from floods caused by sprinklers to theft and vandalism), council approved storage is notorious for all sorts (I'm not, accusing any council worker of anything untoward.) would not only be a not be a hard, long  job, it would also burn through bundles of cash that could quite easily soar past it's projected costs. Costly would be one name for it..
So once again the residents of  'that place' have won a reprieve, It was only a few years ago that Trellick tower itself faced demolition, and like the residents of the surrounding houses, it was saved by protest and petition.
The council must covet that portion of land BAD. It's quiet, leafy, along side the Canal as it snakes smoothly past. With various animals, Swans and Duck families populating it in finest picture postcard style, plus it would provide easy access for builders via Kensal Road.
I'm sure it would make an ideal private flats and office complex (with the obligatory but tiny number of 'social' homes as well, of course. And one or two Coffee shops and a bakery no doubt).
I'm sure this potential money pit will not go unmissed by the council captains though, give it time, and they will be back.
